What is your cancellation policy?
As our tours are private and bespoke, cancellations of an entire group booking requires 21 days notice in writing by e-mail for a full refund. Cancellation any closer to the tour date will not be refunded. We may be able to move your tour to another date if we have availability.
We strongly advise checking your travel insurance policy includes adequate cancellation cover in case of last minute emergencies or changes of plans.
On the very rare occasion that we have to cancel your tour and you are not able to accept an alternative date, you will be fully refunded.
Will our guide be fully insured and licenced?
Yes, your guide holds a private hire licence, public liability insurance and hire and reward insurance. You guide is PVG certified and has first aid training.
Where do we meet for the tour?
We can pick you up from your accommodation anywhere on Skye, or at any place on the island you choose. You can tell us where you want to be collected from when booking your tour.
Depending on where we start, we can change the itinerary order to make the most of our time.
What if the weather's really bad?
We can hope for blue skies and sunshine but the weather can change quickly in the highlands. You should be prepared for a bit of everything and pack appropriate clothing and footwear. We have a fantastic time on our tours in all sorts of conditions.
The Met Office forecast for Skye is here
If the weather is really terrible, we can modify the tour, finding new activities, going to see waterfalls, or swapping outdoor activites for indoor museums and castles. In winter it may be that some high roads are not passable so we may modify your tour accordingly.
Very rarely, the weather or road conditions may be so bad that travel advisory warnings have been issued, in which case we may have to cancel your tour and you will be refunded.
If you decide to cancel your tour because of bad weather then our standard cancellation policy applies.
What level of fitness do I need?
All our tours can be tailored to suit all abilities. We can swap longer walks for other activites. There is lots to see without any strenuous walking and for anyone with mobility issues, there is plenty to see without even getting out of the car!
Most of our standard tours do involve some walks, sometimes on uneven terrain and if you want to hike up the Storr or Quirang, it takes around 90 minutes and there are some steep sections. The path to the fairy pools is well surfaced but steep in sections.
How long is a day tour?
Generally our tours last 7-8 hours but can be extended or reduced on request.
Can I book a multi-day tour?
Yes of course, just get in touch and unless we are already booked, we can extend your tours for as many days as you want.
You must arrange your own meals and accommodation during the period of a multi-day tour.
Do you offer tours starting from other locations?
We prefer to pick up on Skye but we can collect you from the mainland and drive you to Skye for your tour. Extra driving time for pick up and drop off will mean that we might have reduce the lenght of time spent at tour locations or miss some locations out.
